Continuing from the previous revision of a Christmas classic, and after gazing upon a pack of sixty grovelers in two foot Serangan yesterday, here’s a revision of a New Year’s song (“auld lang syne” translates roughly into long long ago):
Should old surf buddies be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old surf buddies be forgot,
auld lang syne
CHORUS:
For days of old, my friend,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a drop of Bintang yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll shout me mine!
and surely I’ll shout you yours!
And we’ll take a bottle of Bintang yet,
for auld lang syne.
(CHORUS)
We two have surfed the empty waves,
and got such barrels fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary crowd,
since auld lang syne.
(CHORUS)
We’ve have paddled out alone,
and surfed from morning sun till dine ;
But surf schools now cram them in
since auld lang syne.
(CHORUS)
And there’s a board my trusty friend !
We’ll sneak a few along the line
And we’ll share a peak left and right
for auld lang syne.
(CHORUS)
(Yeah, I know, it’s crowded these days, that’s life, so deal with it. But I’m old enough to wax nostalgic, and New Years is the time for that)
